Why You Need Mythology In Your Life

(And why you should tell others about it)

This is a new site, with only one author (me), so please bear with me as more articles and sections become available.

About Mysteries of Mythology

They're not just stories...

Think about it.

We’ve named planets, mental health conditions, chemical names and even words we use daily after these stories. As soon as we could mark cave walls and talk, we’ve been handing myths and mythologies down through the ages.

Mythologies and myths are not religions, although they do play a major role in them. The very first stories attempted to explain how the world was created and why it is the way it is now. They also explained our purpose in life and why we are here in the first place.

But before I ramble on, as I often do, let me introduce myself. Hello, my name is Eddie, and I am the founder of the YouTube channel, and now the website for Mysteries of Mythology. I go by the Alias of Mr. Myst only so my friends, family, (and employer) don’t know how much time and effort I put into this. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll do a big reveal.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that mythology is really a form of archaeological psychology. Mythology gives you a sense of what a person believes, and what they fear.”

George Lucas

At one level, mythologies are entertaining stories, but depending on how long you are willing to look, they can also be explorations of our personal struggles, our journey through life and our purpose and existence.

We used to sit around fires sharing these stories (and some still do), but now we gather around screens to share these journeys that have lasted for as long as we have. This website is my attempt to share these stories in the hope that they will enrich your understanding of the world so you can share it with others.
As I say in every video, Welcome to the Mysteries of Mythology!

I’ll leave you with a video of Stephen Fry on the Relevance of Mythology. He uses Greek myths as an example, but I think it applies to all mythologies.
